Returns Policy on Printheads & Inks

Graficomp values our clients’ need for perfect prints, and we understand that faults can occasionally occur on print heads. Please note that HP returns are covered for one year or one litre of ink used, whichever occurs first. This warranty does not cover damage caused by mechanical faults or paper jams.

How to Generate a Fault Report for Your Printer

Before submitting a printhead return, you will need to generate a service report from your printer. The steps differ depending on your printer model.

For Latex 110, 115, 310, 315, 330, 335, 360, 365, 370, 375, 560 and 570

1. Open your internet browser.
2. Type in the IP address of your printer.
3. Go to Support.
4. Go to Service Report.
5. Go to the Printer Info tab.
6. The following report will appear: Current Substrate, Printhead & Ink Information (1 of 2).
7. Right-click, select All, and choose Print or Save to generate the document.

This is the report required by HP for your claim.

For Latex 630, 630W, 700, 700W, 730, 730W, 800, 800W, 830, 830W and R530W

1. Open Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
2. In the website address bar, type in the IP address of the printer and press Enter.
3. In the left-hand column, select Support Tools.
4. Click on Reports and Pages.
5. Enter your printer’s PIN code, located on the back of the printer on the sticker with the serial number, then press Enter.
6. Select the Printhead Information tab.
7. Click on Downloads.
8. Send the PDF report to orders@graficomp.co.za.

Graficomp Returns Policy on DesignJet Printers

Due to the specialised nature of these printers, returns and refunds are subject to a restocking fee, provided the unit is still in a sealed box and its original packaging.

• Printers must be returned to our offices for inspection.
• All printers returned within 7 days of purchase will carry a 25% handling and restocking fee.
• Printers that have been opened or engaged cannot be returned.
• Specialised, non-stocked items ordered into the country specifically for a client cannot be returned, unless the unit is damaged or broken on arrival, as these units cannot be returned to the supplier.
• Goods purchased through a deal that was not qualified by a Graficomp salesperson will not be accepted for return.

HP Printers: Ink Supplies Limited Warranty

This HP Limited Warranty applies to original HP ink cartridges, customer-replaceable printheads, and cleaning and maintenance kits. It covers only HP-branded products sold or leased:

• from HP Inc., its subsidiaries, affiliates, authorised resellers, authorised distributors, or country/region distributors; and
• with this Limited Warranty.

Note: this warranty supersedes all previous warranties.

What This Warranty Covers

Each HP ink cartridge, customer-replaceable printhead, and cleaning and maintenance kit is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the duration of the warranty period.

This warranty applies to any HP ink cartridge, customer-replaceable printhead, or cleaning and maintenance kit when used in its designated HP or authorised original equipment manufacturer (OEM) printing device. Refer to your printer’s product manual to confirm the correct ink cartridge and printhead selection.

For clarity, customer-replaceable printheads have latches that can be opened and closed to secure the part. Printheads that are not customer-replaceable are covered under a separate printer warranty.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

This warranty does not cover HP ink cartridges, customer-replaceable printheads, or cleaning and maintenance kits that have been refilled, remanufactured, refurbished, misused, or tampered with.

If failure or damage is attributable to the use of non-HP ink, a non-HP, expired, or refilled ink cartridge, or to use with a non-designated HP or unauthorised OEM printing device, HP is not responsible for the cost of replacement or refund of the purchase price.

How Long the Coverage Lasts

The length of warranty coverage depends on the type of part:

Original Ink Cartridges	Until the HP ink is depleted or the “Warranty Ends” date is reached, whichever occurs first.
Standard Printheads	Until the “Warranty Ends” date or the warranted usage limit is reached, whichever occurs first. The original printhead supplied with the printer is covered until the warranted usage limit is reached, or for 1 year from the printer purchase date, whichever occurs first, even if the “Warranty Ends” date has already passed.
Printhead Cleaning Kit cleaning rolls	Install before the “Use By” date printed on the product label, or until the end of the cleaning roll is detected, whichever occurs first.
Printhead Cleaning Kit bottles and spittoons	Until the reservoir is full.
HP 31, 32, GT52, GT53, V87XL and Y42XL Ink Bottles	Until the bottle is opened or the “Warranty Ends” date is reached, whichever occurs first.

Other Printheads

• One-year/90-day Printheads – identified by the ink cartridges used with them, including the HP 564, 364, 178, 862, 920, 922, 950–959, and 962–969 cartridges. The original printhead supplied with the printer is warranted for 1 year from the printer purchase date. Replacement printheads are warranted for 90 days or the remainder of the applicable printer warranty, whichever is longer. Unlike other printheads, the date printed on the printhead is not the Warranty Ends date.
• HP 711/713/729/739/4287 – replacement printheads are warranted for 1 year from the date of installation, 4,000 ml, or the Warranty Ends date printed on the printhead, whichever comes first.
• HP 727/732 Printheads – warranted for 1 year from the date of installation, 4,000 ml, or the Install By date printed on the printhead, whichever comes first.
• HP 836 White Printheads – warranted for 6 months after installation, the Warranty Ends date printed on the printhead and packaging, or the warranted usage limit, whichever comes first.
• HP 841 Printheads – warranted for 1 year from the date of installation, 10,000 ml, or 2 years after the manufacturing date printed on the printhead, whichever comes first.
• HP 876 Printheads – warranted for 1 year from the date of installation, 16,000 ml, or 2 years after the manufacturing date printed on the printhead, whichever comes first.
• HP 886 White Printheads – warranted for 6 months after installation, 12,000 ml, or the Warranty Ends date printed on the packaging and printhead, whichever comes first.
• One-year/15,000 Page Printheads – identified by the printers that use them, including HP Deskjet GT printers. The original printhead, and any printhead replaced within the first year of printer purchase, is warranted for 1 year from printer purchase or 15,000 pages, whichever is earlier. Printheads replaced more than a year after printer purchase are warranted until the “Warranty Ends” date on the printhead.
• One-year/20,000 Page Printheads – identified by the printers that use them, including HP Ink Tank (except the HP Ink Tank 319) and HP Smart Tank (except the HP Smart Tank 419) printers. The original printhead, and any printhead replaced within the first year of printer purchase, is warranted for 1 year from printer purchase or 20,000 pages, whichever is earlier. Printheads replaced more than a year after printer purchase are warranted until the “Warranty Ends” date on the printhead.
• One-year/30,000 Page Printheads – identified by the printers that use them, including the HP Ink Tank 319, HP Smart Tank 419, and HP Smart Tank 500, 600, 670, 720, 750, 6000, 7000, and 7300 series printers. The original printhead, and any printhead replaced within the first year of printer purchase, is warranted for 1 year from printer purchase or 30,000 pages, whichever is earlier. Printheads replaced more than a year after printer purchase are warranted until the “Warranty Ends” date on the printhead.
• One-year/50,000 Page Printheads – identified by the printers that use them, including the HP Smart Tank 790 and 7600 series printers. The original printhead, and any printhead replaced within the first year of printer purchase, is warranted for 1 year from printer purchase or 50,000 pages, whichever is earlier. Printheads replaced more than a year after printer purchase are warranted until the “Warranty Ends” date on the printhead.

Large Format Production and DesignJet Cleaning and Maintenance Kits

• HP 91, 761, 771, 773 Maintenance Cartridge – until a front panel message prompts replacement.
• HP 792, 789/792 Ink Maintenance Kit – 90 days from purchase, or until a front panel message prompts replacement.
• HP 789, 792, 831 Latex Maintenance Cartridges; HP 614 Stitch Maintenance Cartridges – until the “Warranty Ends” date printed on the cleaning cartridge is reached, or the end of the cleaning roll is detected, whichever occurs first. HP recommends replacing the printhead cleaning kit if the same cleaning roll has been in use for 6 months without reaching the end of the roll.

Warranty Ends Date Locations

The “Warranty Ends” date is printed directly on the product. Refer to the product images below for the exact location on each item.

The date follows the YYYY/MM/DD or YYYY/MM format, where YYYY indicates the year, MM indicates the month, and DD indicates the day. If no day is specified, coverage extends to the last day of that month.
